Welcome to the Rod Race League 2018!

Like many of you I found inspiration the first time I watched Matt Hayes and Mick Brown pursue the Rod Race a few years ago, and like many of you I have tried and failed to complete the task. Having sifted through the Internet I have seen many blogs and videos but none where I thought the "Rod Racers" could actually encourage and recommend information to one another. Making a Rod Racing League also gives more incentive when people compete against one another whether for competition or just an excuse for a bit of banter!

In the mid 80's I was a  Bailiff for Boyer Leisure for a few years before full time employment took me away from my "passion for angling". Since then I have seen lakes turned into Carp waters for the lure of more specimen anglers, pricing out the pleasure angler. I love catching carp as much as anyone but I also love catching other species too, I hope my grandchildren get the chance to see the beauty in a large Rudd shimmering on a hot summer's day like I have done but waters containing such fish are becoming harder to find.

So putting together this league is kind of a celebration of ALL species of fish from the monster carp down to the tiddlers. I wonder how many Carp anglers will take this challenge on and find themselves taking a walk down memory lane as their childhood memories are rekindled. There are certainly a few waters that I have not fished since my father took me fishing many years ago, I guess that can be said for lot of us.

I also look forward to fishing new venues for species I have never caught, the Grayling for me will be the highlight should I ever catch my first ever fish, so come join me and the likeminded and lets share what the waters of the UK has to offer.
